Beyond the Schedule: Setting Your Daily Tempo

You have a schedule, but is that what the team “huddle” should focus on?

An Elite huddle is a highly efficient strategic briefing that empowers your team to lead without fear. Here is how to transform your morning meeting:

Start with YES energy. Share one success from yesterday or a positive patient review.

Secret Service: Who is coming in today that needs extra care? (birthday, dental anxiety, etc)

Set The Tempo: Identify gaps, complex cases, and/or potential roadblocks. Create the plan.

The Handoff: Ensure every team member knows their specific “big win” for the day.

The huddle is where we define the Tempo of our day. We aren’t just looking at time slots; we are deciding how we will show up, how we will support one another, and how we will maintain a calm, elite environment for every phone call and every patient who walks through the door.

Stand Up: This naturally discourages long stories and keeps the energy high.

The “No-Problem” Zone: The huddle isn’t about conflict. If a conflict needs more than 2 minutes to discuss, move it to a separate “parking lot” meeting. Don’t let one issue hijack the team’s moral and morning prep.

Start and End on Time: Respecting the clock is the first step in building a high-trust culture. The huddle is no more than 10 minutes (stick to it). If the huddle is at 7:50 it starts at 7:50 and waits for no one.

Elite practices have a Tempo. While a schedule is just a list of appointments, your Tempo is the heartbeat and personality of your day. It’s the difference between a team that is rushing to keep up and a team that is moving with calm, intentional grace.

Transform Your Daily Tempo.
